DAMASCUS, Oct. 13 – RIA Novosti. The Russian Embassy in Damascus was subjected to mortar fire, no diplomatic staff was injured, told members of diplomatic missions on Tuesday.

“Two mines fell on the territory of the Russian Embassy in Damascus. There is no casualties among the embassy staff, only material damage,” – said a member of the embassy.

In addition, an eyewitness told RIA Novosti that several mines exploded near the venue of the rally in support of Russian actions in Syria.

“Mines fell on the ground where the peaceful demonstration in support of Russia’s actions in Syria was happening. One of them fell near the sports club of El-Baradei, the other fell in al-Adawa, there are wounded. The territory where the mines exploded is currently closed,” – said an eyewitness.

Meanwhile, a source in the police said that according to preliminary data, there are no injuries among the protesters.

“There is no victims among the demonstrators near the Russian Embassy in Damascus. Security measures were enhanced,” – told a source in the police of Damascus.
