The newest Russian submarine broke during the march

The submarine “Rostov-on-Don”, that joined the Russian Navy at the end of 2014, interrupted the march from the Barents Sea to the Black Sea to the place of its permanent deployment in Novorossisk due to technical problems.

The source from the “Interfax” agency has reported that the submarine is currently in the Baltic Sea. He did not elaborate on what kind of technical issues it suffered.

Blogger Ilya Kurganov who writes about the Navy, citing an unnamed representative of the Navy has reported that the accident happened in the submarine’s power source. According to him, the vessel was delivered by a tug boat to Kronstadt for repair.

“Rostov-on-Don” is a diesel-electric submarine of the project 636.3 “Warszawianka”. It was launched in June 2014, and passed sea trials. In 2015, deep-held test and missile launches were performed. It was planned that in December the submarine will arrive at the Black Sea Fleet.
