Taliban refused to cooperate with Russia


The Islamic movement Taliban will not cooperate with Russia in the fight against Islamic State, and they do not exchange information with the Russian Foreign Ministry. According to Taliban representatives, they do not need any help in dealing with the ISIS. Currently, the main goal of Taliban is to get rid of foreign troops in Afghanistan.

“In Afghanistan, members of the “Islamic State” are located only in the province of Nangarhar, and are not represented as a large and strong group,” – said the representative of Taliban to “Al-Jazeera”.

  • The fact that Russia and the Taliban have common interests in Afghanistan was stated on December 23 by the Russian president’s special representative on Afghanistan, and the Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry department Zamir Kabulov. According to him, the Taliban and Russia have a communication channel for information exchange.
  • Taliban was in power in Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001. The UN Security Council considers the movement a terrorist group.
