Federal Drug Control Service: in one year Russians spend more on illegal drugs than the whole Ministry of Defense budget

Russian citizens spend more on illegal drugs in a year than the annual budget of the Ministry of Defense, said the head of the Federal Drug Control Service Viktor Ivanov in an interview with LifeNews.

“Russian drug users consume an average of two to eight doses a day, so about 2 billion are spent on drugs only. In the year it is close to 1.3 trillion rubles. This is more than the budget of the Ministry of Defense, or health care,” – said Ivanov.

According to him, the most serious threat is uncontrolled heroin production in Afghanistan, which “floods the entire world”. Deliveries to the Russian market are estimated at $18 billion. This is what goes through the Central Asian states, destabilizing the social situation there, giving rise to gangs, and spreading death among young people.
