New head of PACE encouraged Russia to free Crimea, Donbass and Savchenko

The newly elected President of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Pedro Agramunt from Spain urged the Russian Federation to stop supporting militants in Donbass, to return control over the occupied territories to Ukraine, and free Nadiya Savchenko.

He stated this during his first speech after the election during the winter session of PACE in Strasbourg, reports a correspondent of Ukrinform.

“Russia is still supporting separatists in eastern Ukraine. It must do everything possible to return the territories under the control of Ukraine. It is also necessary to release (Nadiya) Savchenko,” – said the new head of PACE.

According to him, the situation in Ukraine continues to cause concerns, and remains volatile. “Territory controlled by separatists remains a place where there are massive human rights violations”, – said Pedro Agramunt.
