Jens Stoltenberg in his interview with Bild said that NATO will not stand and observe the nuclear threat from the Russian Federation. However, he did not call Russia “enemy”.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed concern about Russia’s nuclear weapons. According to Stoltenberg, Russian president Vladimir Putin “somehow threatens” to use it. “And Russian troops defiantly carried out corresponding exercises,” – he said to Bild on Sunday February 14.

Stoltenberg made it clear that NATO will not just stand and observe the nuclear threat. According to him, a “threshold” for using nuclear weapons should not be lowered.

“As long as nuclear weapons exist, it will be part of our policy of deterrence”, – noted the politician.

At the same time Stoltenberg did not call Russia enemy, as Putin did against the alliance. “The world is too complex to divide it into friends and enemies. We won’t be able so solve major conflicts without Russia,” – Said the NATO Secretary General.
