Deputy Minister of Culture was named the head of a criminal group

Deputy Minister of Culture of Russia Grigory Pirumov is suspected of organizing a criminal group that stole 50 million rubles (approx. $700,000 – RRT) at signing contracts for restoration work. This was reported by Interfax referring to the case file.

The amount of stolen funds was disclosed at a meeting of the Lefortovo court in Moscow, which in the evening of March 15 arrested another person involved in the case: the Director of the construction company “Baltstroy” Dmitry Sergeyev.

“Pirumov created and headed an organized group, whose activity was aimed at signing government contracts with unreliable and overpriced services of restoration works,” – announced the judge.

The case against several executives of the Ministry of Culture, and entrepreneurs was started by the FSB. The investigation is related to contracts for the restoration of objects such as the Hermitage, the Novodevichy Convent, Ivanovsky Convent, and Izborsk fortress near Pskov.
