Canada imposed additional sanctions against Russia

Canada imposed additional sanctions on 10 Russian companies and 2 Russian citizens. This was reported on Friday, March 18, by the website of the Government of Canada.

The list contain the following companies: Inserbank, Mosoblbank, Volgogradneftemash, Izhevsk Mechanic Factory, Izhmash, Tekhnopromexport, Tekhmash, Roselektroniks, and subdivisions of RosTech: holding Schwabe and Tekhnopromexport.

The following persons were also added to the sanctions list: the deputy CEO of Kalashnikov Group Edward Joffe, and its director of export sales Alexander Omelchenko.

Additional sanctions were imposed to “increase the pressure on Russia in order to achieve the Minsk agreements, and to demonstrate our (Canadian) non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia”.

“Sanctions will not be removed as long as Russia does not fully fulfill Minsk agreements,” – said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Stéphane Dion.
