USA refused Russia’s request for urgent talks on ceasefire in Syria

The US government has refused Russia’s proposal to hold an emergency meeting on the issue of violation of ceasefire in Syria.

As reported by Reuters, the US representative in Geneva noted that the information on possible cases of violations is false. He also noted that these issues “have already been discussed in detail, and will be further discussed constructively”.

Earlier, the head of Russia’s Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff Lieutenant General Sergei Rudskoy said that Moscow is ready to implement the agreement on monitoring the ceasefire in Syria unilaterally starting from March 22.

According to Rudskoy, “military force will be used only after receiving credible evidence of armed groups violating the commitments made in the framework of a joint Russian-American declaration of cessation of hostilities in Syria, made on February 22, 2016″. However, he stressed that military force would not be used against civilians and civilian objects.
