Government of Netherlands supports the EU-Ukraine Association

“The number of participants shows that business has a great interest in Ukraine. Being on a trade mission recently, I was very convinced of the business opportunities, particularly in the field of logistics, transport and agriculture,” – said the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands Lilianne Ploumen.

Ploumen noted that the Netherlands Government fully supports the agreement on the EU-Ukraine Association which will be the subject of the referendum to be held in the Netherlands soon.

“The agreement will give Ukrainians more opportunities for prosperity, democracy and the fight against corruption. So, the Government urges everyone to vote,” – she said.

According to the press service of the Dutch government, during the forum Ploumen will also meet with the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Natalia Yaresko. The agenda of the meeting will be the reforms in Ukraine, and the upcoming referendum.

In turn, Minister of Agriculture of the  Netherlands Martijn van Dam said that in addition to the strengthening of democratic rights and freedoms, the Association Agreement is also advantageous in terms of easier access of Dutch farmers to the Ukrainian market. “It provides many opportunities for Ukraine and the Netherlands, and I would like to take advantage of these opportunities,” – he said.

On March 30, the Ukrainian-Dutch Business Forum will be held in the Netherlands. According to its program, it will be attended by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Natalia Yaresko, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Alexei Pavlenko, Ukrainian and Dutch officials and businessmen.

In mid-March, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development of the Netherlands Lilianne Ploumen together with representatives of 30 Dutch companies made a trade mission to Ukraine.

On April 6, a consultative referendum on the Agreement on the EU-Ukraine Association will be held in Netherlands.
