Iran and Saudi Arabia are ready to reconcile and resume diplomatic relations

The Iranian authorities are ready to reconcile with Saudi Arabia after the religious conflict in January this year and breaking the diplomatic relations.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the parties must start negotiations soon, with the mediation of Pakistan. The Iranian leader supports this format of negotiations despite the fact that Pakistan is a key ally of the Saudis in the Middle East.

“If there is a problem between the two countries, it should be resolved through negotiations,” – he said.

Rouhani said that despite the conflict with Iran, Saudi Arabia is one of the key political players in the Arab world.

Tensions in relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia came in early January, after the Saudis executed a Shiite preacher. At the same day the Saudi embassy in Tehran was attacked using “Molotov cocktails”, and a few days later, the parties announced about mutual breaking of diplomatic relations.
