Ukraine suspected Russia’s involvement in Brussels attacks

The head of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) Vasyl Hrytsak said that the explosions at the international airport and metro stations could have had a “Russian trace”. The head of the secret service said this on Tuesday, March 22 during a lecture at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

“You probably know already that there were 2 explosions today in Brussels, and according to preliminary data, there are 12 victims. I would not be surprised if this is a part of Russia’s hybrid war, although everyone will be pointing at ISIS,” – Said Hrytsak.

On Tuesday, March 22, several explosions happened in Brussels. Two explosions occurred in the international airport of the Belgian capital, near the desk of American Airlines. According to preliminary data, 17 people were killed (according to the updated data the victim count reached 38 people – RRT). A few dozen were injured by fragments of broken glass and fallen ceiling panels. It was reported that before the explosions firearm shots were heard, and shouts in Arabic.

After the terrorist attacks, the airport was entirely blocked by the security forces, all flights were canceled. Trains coming to the airport were cancelled as well. After the explosions, the level of terrorist threat in Belgium was raised to the 4th – the maximum.

After some time, new explosions occurred in the Brussels metro. They happened in the stations Maalbeek, Schuman, and Arts-Loi. 10 people were killed. After the incident, all the metro stations in the city were closed.
