The United States officials believe that the maneuvers of the Russian Su-27 over the Baltic Sea may provoke tension between the two countries.
This was stated by the spokesman of the US Department of Defense Bill Urban.
“This dangerous and unprofessional air interception could provoke serious damage and injuries of all crews members. More importantly, these dangerous and unprofessional actions of one pilot can lead to unnecessary tension between our countries,” he said.
The Pentagon claimed that “on April 29, 2016 US Air Force aircraft RC-135, carrying out a routine mission in international airspace over the Baltic Sea, was intercepted by a Russian Su-27 in unsafe and unprofessional manner”.
“This interception occurred a few weeks after the Russian aircraft unsafe rapprochement with the US destroyer Donald Cook,” Urban reminded.
According to him, “during the last year, incidents occurred many times, when Russian warplanes approached in the air and at sea, which caused serious concerns in the field of security, and we are very worried about this behavior.”
