Blogs: GDP of Chinese province Guangdong exceeded GDP of Russia

In January 2016, Russia’s GDP was $ 1.178 trillion. Province Guangdong finished 2015 with GDP of 7.281 trillion yuan, or $1.125 trillion. However, given the growth of 7.3% in the first quarter of 2016, it is $1.207 trillion.

For the reference, Guangdong is one of 31 provinces of China. 108 million people live in it.

If we take GDP per capita, then by this indicator Russia was bypassed by Gabon. For those who do not know what it is, and where it is: it is a country in central Africa, exactly on the equator, neighboring Congo and Equatorial Guinea.

According to the IMF, in 2015 GDP per capita was:
Gabon: $ 8,580
Russia: $8,447

Many people are yet to realize that in our days the greatness of the country is determined by the size of the economy and wages rather than the territory.
