Currently, it is not clear where the Ukrainian woman will proceed. Speaking to reporters, her sister Vera joked that “definitely not to jail.”
“If she is taken to jail, volunteer battalions will come here,” she said.
Savchenko’s lawyer Mark Feigin said that Savchenko was exchanged: Evgeny Yerofeyev and Alexander Alexandrov, who are considered as GRU fighters, were sent to Russia. According to Ukrainskaya Pravda (“Ukrainian Truth” – RRT), the aircraft with the Russians on board have already landed in Vnukovo airport in Moscow.
As reported by Kommersant, the final agreement on the exchange was reached during a telephone conversation of the Normandy format: the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the president of Russia Vladimir Putin, the president of France Francois Hollande, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Prisoner exchange scheme was described by Ukrainskaya Pravda: according to sources of the site, the plane with Savchenko was to fly from Russia at the same time with another aircraft, which will carry Alexander Alexandrov and Evgeny Yerofeyev from Ukraine.
