State Duma Vice-Speaker, a member of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR), and a member of the executive committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Igor Lebedev praised Russian fans for fighting with the British fans.
The politician wrote this on Twitter on Monday, June 13th.
“I do not see anything terrible in fight fans. On the contrary, well done guys. Keep it up!” Lebedev said.
Не вижу ничего страшного в драке фанатов. Наоборот, молодцы наши ребята. Так держать!https://t.co/g4ZKsFPDTt

According to him, what happened in Marseilles and other French cities is not the fans’ fault, but rather the inability of police to organize such events.
The MP also said he did not understand the politicians and officials who were stigmatizing Russian fans. According to him, the fans need to be protected, and the proceedings should begin after they return to Russia.
Earlier on Monday, the head of the Russian Union of fans (PSA) Alexander Shprygin told that 40 French police officers with machine guns burst into the hotel room, where representatives of the organization stay. Police “copied their documents and photographed everyone.”
The Russian national team met with England (1: 1) on June 11 in Marseille. Before and after the game there were massive fans’ clashes. After that, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has started disciplinary proceedings and threatened Russian and English teams with disqualification.
