Report of US State Department mentioned recruiting minors in DPR and LPR

An annual report of the US State Department on the situation of human trafficking in the world was published yesterday.

It mentions the fact of the recruitment of minors in temporarily occupied areas of Donbas to the illegal armed groups DPR and LPR.

The report says that terrorists recruit children of ages 15 to 17 years old, and do not to make exceptions for even younger children. For example, 12-year-olds were seen in one of the “battalions”. The terrorists build up militarized youth groups, and give children military training. For those who show exceptional success, it is offered to create their own groups to participate in the fighting.

Also, terrorists use children as informants, and in the tactics of “human shields”. The document stresses that this information appeared repeatedly, and was included in the OSCE reports. According to the Ministry on the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons, up to 450 thousand children live in the occupied territories.

The report also mentioned the problem of displaced persons. The document stresses that the war in Donbas has forced more than 1.8 million people to flee their homes. Also, it was pointed out that migrants are the most vulnerable social group.

Human trafficking also takes place. The State Department says that Ukraine is not only a transit country and the final destination, but also a source of this “resource”. Finally, the State Department said that the Ukrainian government takes measures to eliminate such phenomena, but they are seen as extremely insufficient.
