25 years of occupation: Moldova asks Putin’s soldiers to leave

Staying of Russian armed forces and weapons on the territory of the Transnistrian region is illegal.

This was stated by the head of the Defense Ministry of Moldova Anatol Salaru, commenting on the visit of Dmitry Rogozin to Tiraspol.

“At the time when the Republic of Moldova mourns tens of thousands victims who were deported to Siberia during the Stalin’s deportations, Rogozin made a visit to Tiraspol to tell us that we should lift the blockade of Transnistria. There is no blockade! There are restrictions on the rotation of troops from the Operational group of Russian forces (OGRF) stationed in Transnistria. This “blockade” is dictated by the fact that Russian troops reorganized into OGRF (the former 14th Russian army) illegally present on the territory of Moldova for 25 years,” the Minister wrote.

Salaru stressed that “the demand of the Russian Federation on the rotation of troops is an insult against those who fought for the independence of Moldova.”

“The Russian army must leave the territory of Moldova, taking all the weapons with them,” the minister added.

More than a 1,500 Russian soldiers are stationed in the territory of the Transnistrian region, and more than 20,000 tons of ammunition and bombs is stored at military depots in the village Kolbasna of the Rybnitsa district.
