Turkish authorities told about military coup attempt


The Prime Minister Binali Yildirim on Friday, July 15 reported a coup attempt in the country, reports Reuters.

“A group of military, using their powers and weapons, attempted to commit irresponsible and unlawful actions (…) We will do everything to maintain peace and order. The ones who is responsible will suffer the most severe punishment,” RIA Novosti news agency quotes the words of the head of government.

It was also reported that a military helicopter fired at an unknown target near the building of the National Intelligence Organization of Turkey in Ankara. Military planes and helicopters were seen in the sky over the city.

Istanbul police blocked traffic on both bridges over the Bosphorus Strait from the Asian to the European part of the city.
