Russian MP: After terror attack in Nice the West can’t avoid cooperation with Russia

Terrorist attack in Nice showed that the West should go for closer cooperation with Russia to combat the common threat: terrorism, said the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev.

“[Changes in the relations between Russia and the West] definitely need to happen. ISIS and other terrorist groups who try to keep the world in awe – they raised their heads only because the world was unable to consolidate, and give a collective response to the threat; we do not have cooperation with NATO countries in countering terrorism,” Kosachev said.

He stressed that there is no alternative for it.

“I’d like to believe it, we have no other choice but to act in a different way; terrorism is beyond morality, beyond politics, beyond any tensions between countries,” the senator concluded.
