Yelena Isinbaeva: Whoever wins in Rio, without me it’s the second place anyway

Two-time Olympic champion Yelena Isinbayeva, answering fans questions, emphasized that the winner of the competition in the high jump at the Olympics-2016 can not consider themselves a champion in her absence.

“In my absence in Rio, it doesn’t matter who wins, it will be the second place anyway,” Isinbayeva said. “That was my goal: to win the gold in Rio with a new world record. It is hard to say what it was going to be, but I think no less than 5.10 m. Russian Championship was my first competition after the birth of my daughter. And immediately, after only two months of training – 4.90 m, the best result in the world. I’m sure many have thought ‘If Isinbayeva performed like that in such a condition, then what will happen in Rio?’ All my opponents were in panic.”
