The International Olympic Committee allowed the Russian team to participate in the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. Such a decision was made during the conference of the IOC executive committee.
IOC will allow those Russian athletes who was not involved in the doping scandal, and was not mentioned in the WADA report. At the same time, the IOC expressed distrust to the Olympic Committee of the Russian Federation after the statements made by the World Anti-Doping Agency about the involvement of sports officials in concealing the use of doping by Russian athletes.
It was also reported that the IOC passes the right to decide on athletes admission to international sports federations.
As it was previously reported, Russian athletes massively took doping during the Games in Sochi. In May, the head of the IOC Thomas Bach said that if the allegations are proven, Russia may be excluded from participation in the Olympics in Rio.
