Russian authorities revealed amount of destroyed food

7,500 tons of vegetables, fruits, and animal products were destroyed by Rosselkhoznadzor (Russia’s Agriculture Controlling Service – RRT) in 1 year.

The food is being destroyed in accordance with the decree on destroying of the food that “illegally” came into the country bypassing the embargo.

There were about 7,282 tons of vegetables and fruits, and less than 300 tons of products of animal origin among the destroyed food, reports TASS with reference to the Service.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, the most of embargoed fruits and vegetables have been destroyed in Bryansk, Smolensk, Tver, and Pskov regions, mostly apples, pears, peaches, tomatoes, and eggplants, as well as strawberries, oranges, nectarines, and grapes.

Products of animal origin were mostly destroyed in St. Petersburg region.
