The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky at a press conference in Moscow said that in 10-15 years the capital of Latvia will be Liepaja, since Riga was originally Russian land.

According to him, Riga and Daugavpils should be returned to Russia, and the Latvians should go live in the woods.

“Riga is a Russian city, Daugavpils is a Russian city called Borisoglebsk, as well as Narva … It’s all the Russian land! You will return to the way you used to live until 1721, before becoming a part of the Russian Empire: you lived in the woods, on farms, with cows and bees, ate honey, and lived from the land. Latvians will returned to the woods, and Russian engineers will be sitting in Riga and Tallinn,” Zhirinovsky said.

Commenting on the statement of the mayor of Riga Nil Ushakov about the possible cancellation of mutual sanctions of the European Union and Russia, Zhirinovsky said that until the issue of non-citizens resolved in Latvia, it won’t benefit in any way from Russia.

“Your Mayor of Riga Ushakov, albeit with a Russian name, but he is too westernized!” said the controversial Russian politician.
