Cuba asked Russia to start oil supplies because of problems with Venezuela


The Chairman of the State Council and the Council of Ministers of Cuba Raul Castro asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to consider supplies of oil and oil products to the island.

According to a source familiar with the text of the appeal, Cuba experiences difficulties with supplies from Venezuela, which has entered the international market to meet domestic needs due to difficulties in oil production.

Cuba wants Russia to organize crude oil and petroleum products supplies on favorable financing conditions.

The letter does not specify the amounts and terms, these details will be agreed during negotiations if needed.

Castro assured that the country will strictly comply with financial covenants under this request.

According to the source, the appeal needs to be worked out by the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
