Merkel about G20 summit results: No negotiations without Ukraine

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that no decisions on Donbas were made during the G20 summit in China because Ukraine did not participate in it.

“Nothing strategically important happened here (at the G20 summit). We need Ukraine for it (settlement of the situation in the Donbas,” Merkel stressed.

At the same time, German Chancellor did not rule out that the next meeting in Norman format at the level of Heads of State and Government will still take place. However, she did not name the specific date.

On Monday, September 5, the United States President Barack Obama met with French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Merkel on the sidelines of the G20 summit to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

As reported by “Obozrevatel”, the Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that a lot of work needs to be done before a meeting in Normandy format takes place.
