The North Atlantic Alliance is to force up the battle readiness in connection with the Russian threat.

“We have seen Russia being much more active in many different ways,” said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with The Times .

According to him, commanders of the countries of the Alliance intend to prepare a substantial ground force that can deter Russian aggression.

Referring to former British representative to NATO Adam Thomson, Stoltenberg said the deployment of 300,000 troops would take about 180 days.

Earlier, the British newspaper The Times said that the Baltic States will be the scene of the next military conflict in Europe, after the Crimea, eastern Ukraine, and Syria.
