Executive director of Roscosmos was arrested for two months


Basmanny court sanctioned the arrest of Vladimir Yevdokimov, the Executive Director of the quality assurance of the state corporation Roscosmos.

“Detention for a period until 30 January 2017 was chosen as a preventive measure,” said in a statement.

Earlier, Russia’s Investigative Committee filed charges against Yevdokimov in accordance with part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia (fraud on a large scale). According to the investigator, Yevdokimov caused damage to the country in the amount no less than 300 million rubles (approx. $4.6 million – RRT).

It was noted that two more persons involved in the case are still wanted. The defense requested to release Yevdokimov on 30 million rubles bail (approx. $460,000 – RRT). The accused pleaded not guilty.

The press service of Roscosmos noted that the investigative actions against Yevdokimov are not related to his work in the corporation.
