CIA: Russia helped Donald Trump to win presidential election

The CIA believes that Russia has helped Donald Trump to win the U.S. presidential election, intervening in their course.

It was announced by newspaper The Washington Post, referring to the findings of the secret service: some persons, who had ties with Russian government, leaked thousands of emails to WikiLeaks. These letters were obtained by hacking a server of Democrats and the head of Clinton’s staff, John Podesta.

The newspaper believes that persons who provided letters of WikiLeaks are part of Russia’s operation to promote Trump and disrupt Clinton. Referring to a senior U.S. official, Washington Post reports that Russia’s goal was to help Trump win.

Earlier, U.S. media repeatedly made assumption that a server of the Democratic Party was hacked by Russians, and that Russia was trying to influence the U.S. presidential election results. FBI did not make official comments on the matter. Also, the U.S. have never backed these assumptions with facts.
