15 people detained in Moscow near the Government building for reading the Constitution


Moscow police detained 15 people at Gorbaty bridge near the Government building in Moscow. The people came there to read the Constitution of the Russian Federation aloud.

The detainees were taken to the Presnensky police station. According to one of the detainees, the police is going to make a case under Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code, “Violation of the rules of organizing or holding meetings, rallies, demonstrations, marches and pickets”.

According to the media, several people have also been detained near the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg. In Saratov, the organizer of the rally, a member of Communist Party, Dmitry Sorokin was detained on his way the rally.

December 12 is the Constitution Day in Russia. The current Russian Constitution was adopted on December 12, 1993 at the referendum.
