Russian boxer Povetkin was disqualified after positive doping test


As it was told by the head of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Mauricio Sulaiman, Russian boxer was disqualified after failing a doping test.

At the same time he noted that the investigation against Povetkin will continue.

“It it too soon to talk about further actions regarding him, we will investigate, gather all the facts together, hold a hearing, and then make a decision,” said Sulaiman.

Earlier it was reported that a doping test gave a positive result on drug ostarine before the fight with Canadian boxer Bermane Stiverne.

The fight between Povetkin and Stiverne, scheduled for Saturday in Yekaterinburg, was canceled at the initiative of the Canadian side.
