Chinese military seized American underwater drone

According to Reuters, citing a source in the U.S. Department of Defense, Chinese military seized American underwater drone in the South China Sea.

According to CNN, the Chinese lowered a boat from the ship, sailed to the drone, and took it in front of the Americans from the research ship Bowditch. Before picking up the device, the Chinese ship followed the American one for a few days.

The research ship is owned by the U.S. Navy but operated by Military Sealift Command, with a crew of contracted civilian mariners and scientists. The drone was used to create the map of the seabed. It costs about $150,000.
