Washington Post: USA is ready to impose sanctions against Russia because of hacker attacks

As reported by Washington Post citing U.S. officials, the White House prepares economic and diplomatic sanctions against Russian citizens involved in hacking attacks on servers of the Democratic Party.

The newspaper also does not rule out that the sanctions could be announced as early as this week.

The procedure of imposition sanctions in the U.S. allows freezing accounts and assets of individuals in the United States. Also, their commercial transactions can be blocked, and they can be denied entry into the United States.

In addition to the targeted sanctions against Russians, Washington response may include certain measures in cyberspace.

Russia traditionally denies its involvement in the attacks and attempts to influence the elections.
