Putin decided to partially withdraw Russian troops from Syria


As reported by Reuters, referring to his statement, president Vladimir Putin decided to reduce Russian military deployment in Syria.

Putin also told about reaching an agreement on a cease-fire in Syria, and the willingness of the parties to begin peace talks.

Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also told about the possibility of the withdrawal of troops from Syria.

“Currently, there are all the prerequisites for the cessation of hostilities in Syria, and to establish a direct dialogue between the Syrian government and the opposition,” said Shoigu.

The cease-fire in Syria will start on December 30. The guarantors of the truce will be Russia and Turkey, the minister said.
