Mexican airline Interjet suspended flights of Sukhoi Superjet SSJ-100


On Monday, December 26, Mexican airline Interjet announced the suspension of Sukhoi Superjet SSJ-100 airliners for an unscheduled safety inspection.

On December 23, Russian aviation authorities announced that a defect was found in one of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft.

Interjet is one of the largest buyers of the recently released Superjet aircraft. There are over 20 such aircraft in its fleet.

According to the controlling services in Mexico, the suspension affected at least 25 flights and more than 680 passengers. On December 24, the largest Russian air carrier Aeroflot canceled 21 flight on domestic routes.

The manufacturer of the aircraft, the Sukhoi Company, is best known as a manufacturer of fighter aircraft, such as those that are used nowadays in Syria.
