Trump: Obama was too soft on Russia regarding the Crimea

U.S. president Donald Trump said that his predecessor Barack Obama showed his softness regarding Russia on the issue of the Crimea. He wrote that on his Twitter.

The day before that the press secretary of the White House Sean Spicer said that the U.S. president Donald Trump holds a “tough” position towards Russia, expecting the return of the Crimea, and Moscow’s active participation in the de-escalation in Ukraine.

“He continues to raise the issue of the Crimea, the capture of which was allowed by the previous administration,” said Spicer.

After that statement the chairman of Russia’s State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said that they needed to hear Trump’s position on the Crimea from Trump himself since the words of his press secretary might not fully express the point of view of the president.
