Putin signed a law on governors’ personal responsibility for mobilization in case of war


Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that introduces personal liability of governors and federal ministers for the execution of their duties to mobilize citizens in wartime.

The document was approved by the Federation Council on February 15th and published at the portal for legal information on February 22nd.

The law establishes that the governors, heads of municipalities, heads of local administrations and heads of organizations shall bear personal responsibility for mobilization preparation and mobilization. In addition, it states that the governors, or heads of municipalities become the heads of conscription commission, which are created by their decision.

The law will enter into force 10 days after its official publication.
