Security Service of Ukraine will check Russian singer who is to perform at Eurovision in Ukraine

Yulia Samoilova performed in the Crimea after its annexation by Russia.

According to spokesman of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Yelena Gitlyanskaya, the Service will verify the authenticity of the information about Samoilova’s possible visits to the annexed Crimea, which according to Ukrainian legislation is illegal.

“In response to numerous requests regarding Yulia Samoilova, I’d like to to note that the SBU will study the matter and make a measured decision about her possible entry into the territory of Ukraine,” Gitlianskaya wrote on her Facebook page.

She stressed that the position of the Security Service “will be based solely on the Ukrainian legislation and the interests of national security.”

Gitlyanskaya added that the results will be reported after.

As it was reported earlier, Yulia Samoilova was selected to represent Russia at Eurovision 2017. The girl suffers from a disability and moves around in a wheelchair since childhood.
