USA introduced new sanctions against Russia for ties with North Korea


The U.S. Treasury has introduced sanctions against three Russian companies and one Russian citizen.

In the list, in particular, the Independent Oil and Gas Company (NNK) of the former head of Rosneft Eduard Khudainatov. A ‘daughter’ company NNK-Primorsknefteprodukt also got under sanctions.

The third company which fell under sanctions was Ardis-Bearings LLC, registered in Moscow. Its CEO Igor Michurin also got into the sanctions list of the U.S. Treasury. It was noted that he is tied with Korea Tangun Traiding Corporation.

The press service of the U.S. Treasury reports that the Independent Oil and Gas Company supplied oil products worth over $1 million to North Korea.

According to the UN Security Council, the Korea Tangun Trade Corporation “is a participant, or provides support for the DPRK’s programs related to nuclear weapons, other types of weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles.”  It was included in the UN sanctions list on July 16th, 2009.
