The General Committee on Political Affairs and Security of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) adopted a draft resolution, in which Russia is called on to cease the illegal annexation of the Crimea.
The Russian delegation voted against the draft. Now it will be discussed at the whole assembly, and then parliamentarians are expected to vote for the final declaration, which will include all the adopted resolutions.
The project was authored by the deputy head of the delegation of Sweden Margaret Soderfelt. The document was named “Strengthening mutual trust and cooperation in the name of peace and prosperity in the OSCE region”.
In the text of the resolution the organization condemns the pressure and intimidation of the members of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions that are “under the control of hybrid Russian troops.” According to the draft, Russia should “refrain from aggressive practices and abolish the decision on the illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.”
The author of the document also calls for the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine.
