As reported by Interfax, Russian Captain Nikolai Afanasov died as a result of a sudden mortar shelling in the province of Hama in Syria.
Afanasov was in Syria as one of Russian military advisers, fulfilling the tasks of training the personnel of the units of the Syrian land forces.
Earlier it was reported that the rebels shot down a government aircraft in the south of Syria, where the ceasefire was in order.
Witnesses claim that clashes between the fighters of the Free Syrian Army and government forces still continue in the area.
It should be noted that the Syrian monitoring center accuses the Syrian government of violating the ceasefire agreement, which the U.S. and Russia have agreed upon, and which is in force starting from Sunday.
