Lithuania received first batch of LNG from USA

According to the website of the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy, a tanker with the first batch of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States arrived in the port of Klaipeda on August 21st.

The report also says that the first batch of liquefied natural gas from the U.S., that was delivered to Lithuania this year, is the result of a strategy for diversifying gas supplies by the Lithuanian energy group.

“Consistently optimizing the offer, the Ministry of Energy managed to reduce the gas price for Lithuanian residents, and undoubtedly this deal will contribute to creating even greater value for the country’s economy, strengthening strategic partnership and cooperation between the United States and Lithuania,” said the Minister of Finance of Lithuania Vilyus Shapoka.

According to TASS, the tanker that arrived to Klaipeda holds about 140,000 cubic meters of the liquified natural gas. The next batch of the LNG is expected in Klaipeda in mid-September.
