Van loaded with propane and gasoline tanks rammed movie theatre in Yekaterinburg


According to portal, after the van rammed the theatre, the driver came out and threw Molotov cocktail into the building. Half-empty barrels with gasoline and three gas cylinders were found inside the vehicle.

As it was stated in the message of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes. The area of ​​the fire was 30 square meters (320 square feet – RRT). Five people were evacuated from the second floor of the building. According to the department, no one was hurt as the result of the incident. 18 pieces of fire-fighting equipment and 52 people  were involved in fighting the fire.

According to the mayor of Yekaterinburg, Yevgeny Roizman, the identity of the driver was established.

The regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that the police detained the suspect in the incident: a local resident born in 1978. As stated in the message, he was detained when he sought medical help after he disappeared from the scene.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that the causes of the fire are now being verified. According to local portal Delovoy Kvartal, the scene is cordoned off by the police, investigators and FSB officers are at work.
