American F-22s intercepted Russian Su-25 jets over Syria

As reported by The Independent, U.S. Air Force jet fighters intercepted Russian Su-25 attack aircraft in the airspace of Syria.

According to an unnamed American official, the U.S. F-22 fired several false heat targets (resembling signal flares) after Russian Su-25 aircraft violated the agreed flight zone that was created to avoid unintentional incidents. After the warning, Russian aircraft left the area.

According to American sources, the situation lasted several minutes, as the Su-25 violated the demarcation line several times. As the newspaper writes, the U.S. Air Force‘s Central Command earlier indicated that Russian planes regularly invade zones controlled by American aircraft.

On December 11th, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the withdrawal of the Russian troops from Syria.
